Pakistan’s top military commanders discuss political, economic situation
Rawalpindi: Pakistan’s top military commanders who met Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee General Khalid Shamim Wynne in the chair to discuss professional preparedness of the armed forces also discussed political and economic situation prevailing in the country, especially in the back drop of tussle between the government and the judiciary, sources said on Tuesday.
However, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) didn’t mention any such discussion in the hand out issued here on Tuesday..
It said General Khalid Shameem Wynne, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee presided over the meeting which was attended by Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Asif Sandila, Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Tahir Rafique Butt, Secretary Defence, Additional Secretary Defence Production, Chief of General Staff, Director General Joint Staff, Director General Inter Services Intelligence, Director General Strategic Plans Division and senior military officers from the three services.
The statement noted that issues related to national security and emerging regional environment along with the progress on the agenda points of last meeting came under discussion.
The ISPR said participants expressed their satisfaction over the standard of preparedness of Armed Forces to take on the upcoming challenges being faced by the country. It added JCSC is a quarterly moot of senior military leadership to assess and evaluate the operational preparedness of the Armed Forces.
